4 SEASONAL WORKSHOPS ON TREE FRUIT GROWING
AT BROOK FARM ORCHARD LOCATED IN THE APPLE VALLEY SECTION OF ASHFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS
TAUGHT BY ORCHARDIST, ALAN SURPRENANT
THE WORKSHOPS WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
WORKSHOP #1 Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013: Variety selection, site selection, site preparation, pruning theory & hands on pruning
WORKSHOP #2 Saturday April 20, 2013: Tree planting, spraying for pests & disease and grafting (you will complete the workshop with a fruit tree you've grafted to take home with you)
WORKSHOP #3 Sunday Aug 25, 2013: Fruit harvest, varietal tasting, storage of fruit and fresh cider making
WORKSHOP #4 Saturday Nov. 9, 2013: Mowing, composting, fertilizing, rodent control and a review of the orchard year
There will be tastings of locally made hard cider after each workshop
Each workshop is $85.00 per person, prepaid.
A delicious lunch will be provided.
If you have any dietary limitations please let us know in advance
There is a 12 person limit per workshop
